OPINION

NPA forced out of the shadows
It's hard to believe that just three short years ago, the Non Partisan Association was a low-key, no-logo kind of organization, an anonymous money pump, the invisible hand in our civic political marketplace.

Canadians helping upset world apple cart
Last week, Canadian soldiers opened fire on other soldiers in eastern Afghanistan, in a region known as the Tribal Areas.

LETTERS

Dog satire 'ridiculous, insulting'
I would like to respond on behalf of the Vancouver Professional Dog Walkers Alliance to Barry Link's column, "World troubles pale when compared to Pacific Spirit Park dog policy," March 13. It was in poor taste for the Courier to print such a ridiculous and insulting article.

Criticism of dog walkers 'degrading'
As a commercial dog walker I find Barry Link's column, "World troubles pale when compared to Pacific Spirit Park dog policy," March 13, laughable.

But it was funny
Re: Barry Link's column, "World troubles pale when compared to Pacific Spirit Park dog policy," March 13.

Sarcasm better aimed at Big Tobacco
I am not a dog walker. I am a dog owner. I work. I cannot always spend the amount of time with my dog that I would like. It is therefore important to me, as a conscientious pet owner, that my dog be taken good care of when I am busy.

Olson right on with handbag folly
Since I consider my knowledge of economics and history enough to be able to judge the general truth of what Geoff Olson outlines in such articles as the recent one on "insanely expensive handbags," I thought I would like to note my support, as a sympathetic reader of Olson's column.

Ads lure shoppers to support money
Right on, Geoff Olson! The ostentatious display of expensive accoutrements explored in "Shop for the cause until last terrorist drops," March 10, reminds me of a flyer which came through our mailbox many years ago.

'Fellating' not in reader's vocabulary
It is not often that I resort to looking into my unabridged Random House Dictionary of the English Language (1981) when I read the Courier, but I had to when I read "...and one vignette (a woman fellating a guy while he drives a car) needed explanation."
